So, you've taken the leap and booked that boudoir session.....Now what??
First off, do a happy dance because, if you've never done a boudoir session, you are going to be soooo happy that you took that leap! But now what? Keep reading and I'm gonna help you with that!
You're gonna want to start planning out your outfits. Depending on the length of your session, and your comfortability, you may be able to fit in two or maybe even three. Even if you don't think you'll have time for more than one, I definitely recommend bringing more than one so you have options. I'll be adding another post soon about picking outfits and lingerie for every body type. However, it's never too soon to window shop. ;)
Let's talk hair and makeup. If your session includes hair and makeup or you are going to see a professional hair and makeup artist before your session, make sure you have a good idea of the look your going for. This will help the hair and makeup artist get right to it. Pinterest has lots of makeup and hair ideas specifically for boudoir. If your session does not include hair and makeup and its just not in the budget to get it done, don't freak! Take time to practice some different hairdos and makeup looks. The last thing you want to do is be late to your session because something didn't turn out the way you thought it would. Or worse, you show up on time but your makeup is not how you wanted it to be and now you are not feeling camera ready. Start with a hair style that always makes you feel sexy and glamorous and then just try different things with that. You can never go wrong with curls! I have stick straight hair so, curling my hair always makes me feel that much more put together.
Poses. One of the most important things of a successful boudoir session is poses. If you don't already have a pinterest, I highly suggest downloading the app and making an account. It's free and you can use it for inspiration for sooo many things! Its also good for searching poses for specific body types and while, I believe every woman is beautiful the way she is, let's be honest, we all have our insecurities. All you have to do is search "boudoir poses that hide this" or "boudoir poses that emphasize that" and you will have a plethora of ideas at your fingertips. Save those to a board and you can show those to me at your session so we have some inspiration! I have a board you can look at for ideas linked below!
In the next few weeks, I'll be putting out more blog posts with lots of helpful information to make your boudoir shoot the best it can be. So, stay tuned and keep an eye on my facebook page and your email for when those are posted. As always, if you have any specific questions, please don' hesitate to reach out to me on my facebook or through email!
